Yes and no. You will not see evidence of the fire at Wild Plumas, but the nearby town of Greenville was mostly destroyed. The grocery store still stands, and there is a brand new gas station and Dollar Tree, but that is all. You will see a lot of cleanup on your way in, but there are no safety concerns for our guests (ask us how to find the beautiful murals painted on many of the buildings!) There may be some delays as you drive to Wild Plumas so be prepared (at this time, it’s about a 20-min delay), and you will likely hear some sounds from Greenville as it rebuilds (two miles away). Thank you for supporting the businesses that survived the largest wildfire in California history!
All of our sites are great for kids, though families with smaller children may want to choose a site away from the creek (choose Wild Rose, The Shabbin, Lost Sierra, and The Frontier) These sites are the closest to the treehouse and game room.
All of our sites accommodate large groups, but Wild Rose, The Shabbin, and Lost Sierra are the best for a group (cars can pull right up and there are extra large flat grassy spots for tents). If you are planning a large gathering such as a wedding or yoga retreat, we will work with you to utilize the whole property for a weekend that is truly unique!
YES! Check the Hipcamp listings for how many people are accommodated at each site. Generally there is a 8-10 person limit and additional adults are $10, $5 for kids. Any questions, just message us, we can work it out when you get here.
Please visit our activities page here for ideas! As always, feel free to contact Josie at WildPlumas@gmail.com for help with itinerary planning. She can also be reached at (530) 375-0431
Yes! Outside of 48-hours before your stay, we offer no-cost trip postponements.
There is a $40 pet fee for dogs ($40 per reservation, regardless of days or the number of pets). Leashes required. We love dogs and encourage you to bring them, but it does create considerable extra work for us in order to make sure the next guest has a pet-free experience. You can add this fee in the ‘add-on’ section at check out.
For sure! We have hosted up to 50! Just message us for group ideas. We can even offer guided tours of the property
You should always be cautious of bears, and do not invite them by leaving food outside of your vehicle. We have never had a violent incident with a bear, but they may take advantage of trash or food left outside.
